“The public should be aware that there is the potential for some localised flooding.

“An occluded front will be slow moving across Northern Ireland on Monday night and Tuesday morning, bringing bands of showers and longer spells of heavy rain. The front will move south on Tuesday morning with rain clearing.”

Met Éireann forecast: “Further heavy showers at times overnight in western and northern counties and some will turn wintry in more western areas later. Elsewhere showers will become well isolated with long clear periods developing.

“The strong and gusty westerly winds will moderate overnight with frost developing in places towards dawn and the risk of some icy patches, as temperatures fall to between 0 to 3 degrees Celsius.”
