Magee, rail and road work goes on post poll

He said: “A month on from the referendum and the result which was declared, the work continues to ensure the North West continues to grow in terms of the economy, investment, tourism and employment.

“The upgrades of the A5 and A6 will continue as scheduled with the A6 beginning later this year and following the public enquiry, the A5 is scheduled to begin 2017.

“Londonderry and Strabane’s bid to become European Youth Capital is also progressing and will be a great opportunity if successful.”

He added: “Major projects such as the refurbishment of the old Waterside Railway Station and the expansion of Magee University are on the table and as a city we’ll do all we can to ensure they stay on track.

“Whether as political representatives, business leaders or individuals, we must continue to highlight the great offering that we have to Europe and beyond. As negotiations begin on the UK withdrawal from the European Union, I am confident that our First Minister will ensure Northern Ireland is well represented at the negotiation table.”
