The world of cosmetic medicine is turning into big business for a young Londonderry doctor.
Dr Leah Totton from the Waterside set up a medical aesthetics company after completing training at Harley Street in London and her clinics in England have been so successful that she flies home twice a month to hold clinics across Northern Ireland. And her base here is expected to be expanded later this year.
Leah grew up in Londonderry attending Lisnagelvin primary school and then Foyle and Londonderry College, where she was an outstanding student, achieving straight A’s /A* at GSCE and A level and obtaining various academic prizes throughout her schooling.
Leah then moved to England where she studied medicine, she completed her degree top of her medical school, resulting in her being awarded an academic distinction in medicine.
As an ex model she knows all too well the importance of appearance and this aspect of medicine has always interested her. Upon qualifying as a doctor she immediately embarked upon her training in Medical Aesthetics, completed at the world famous Harley Street.
Her company LT Medical, which she set up, are leading skin rejuvenation specialists helping women achieve a healthier and more radiant appearance.
LT Medical is led by a team of dedicated UK doctors who work in partnership with clients to achieve their aesthetic dreams. All treatments are administered by professionals registered with their respective professional bodies who have had extensive training in their field. All staff are fully insured and practice under a strict code of ethics and confidentiality and adhere to stringent standards of hygiene.
Despite working full time as an NHS doctor in the London area and being actively involved in medical research, Dr Totton returns to the province twice monthly for LT medical clinics in Londonderry and Belfast, where she offers a wide range of aesthetic treatments including Anti-wrinkle injections, Facial Fillers, lip enhancement, Skin Peels.
The popularlity of these once monthly clinics has been so great that LT Medical are in the process of securing their own clinic premises in the province, which plan to open in autumn of this year.
