Jailed for stealing telectronic tag

A 25-year-old who cut off his electronic tag was jailed for one month when he appeared at Londonderry Magistrates' Court.

Declan Noel Grimes, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to the theft of the tag from G4S on December 27, last year.

He also admitted obstructing police on August 7.

The court heard Grimes entered the enquiry office at Strand Road Police Station and said he was in breach of bail.

He admitted removing his electronic and didn’t have it.

In addition to the one-month jail term, Grimes ordered to pay £279 compensation.
