Foyle Assembly Election 2016: Alliance candidate Chris McCaw will be gay rights champion

Mr McCaw said: “I’m really proud to be standing for Alliance.

“It’s the only party promoting a vision of a truly integrated society for everyone. As an advocate for diversity and equality, I want to address the lack of progress on equality legislation, prioritising a full integrated education system and establishing shared communities and public spaces for all.”

Former Deputy Mayor of Coleraine and retired social worker Yvonne Boyle standing in East Londonderry said: “Unlocking the potential of our beautiful North Coast will be a major engine for growth.

“I want to tackle to the long standing duplication and inefficiencies in our public spending, seeing money and resources reinvested back into our local health service, as well as skills and training opportunities for people of every age.”

Party Leader David Ford said: “Alliance will be standing up for the North Coast and Foyle to begin to move it forward, faster.

“Alliance candidates in East Derry and Foyle ask voters’ support to deliver the key areas of investment needed from Derry’s Walls to Coleraine.

“With the new formations of the new councils, the Causeway Coast and Glens area can begin to look toward the Derry and Strabane as much as Greater Belfast.

“This provides the ideal circumstances to address our long standing regional imbalances and forge an prosperous North West area, developing centres of economic success in Derry-Londonderry and Coleraine.

“Addressing the lack of inter-connectivity by upgrading key transport corridors of the A2 and A6, and supporting growth in bus and rail by delivering greater frequency and increasing capacity. Ensuring a fair deal for our farmers and driving developing industries such as tourism and technologies to reach their full potential”
