Bulk storage unit at Londonderry Port facilitating goldminer

Goldminer Dalradian is currently using a 20,000 square feet bulk storage building at Londonderry Port to facilitate potential mining operations in Counties Tyrone and Londonderry, the Sentinel has learned.

According to the Port Chief Executive, Brian McGrath, who revealed the link-up in last year’s Annual Report: “Foyle Port developed a partnership in 2014 with gold development and exploration company Dalradian Gold.

“Time was a major factor and a dedicated specialised building was required to meet their specific requirements.

“We delivered a custom-built state of the art bulk storage building in four months from contract signing.

“The 20,000 square feet building will allow Dalradian to deliver their project over the next three years and LPHC will have a valuable asset to offer as capacity for future customers’ logistical requirements.”

In 2011, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETINI) granted Dalradian a prospecting licence covering thousands of hectares of land stretching between Drumahoe and Omagh.

Dalradian’s Northern Ireland subsidiary - Dalradian Gold Limited (DGL) - holds a DETI licence to prospect for minerals in the Hollymount Ward in Londonderry, which runs from Currynierin to Killymallaght and from Ardkill to Newbuildings.

It also holds prospecting licences for a number of wards in Strabane - including Donemana, Artigarvan and Slieve Kirk - and a range of other wards as far as Omagh. DGL also holds a number of gold prospecting licences issued by the Crown Estate commissioners and will be looking to explore gold and silver prospects in the Sperrins area.
