Theft from house

Police are appealing for information after a garden theft at a house in Garden City at the weekend.

A lawnmower was stolen from a rear garden which leads on to the Culmore Road. It is believed the theft occurred sometime between 4pm and 10.30pm on Saturday, July 7.

The lawn mower is a green and black petrol B&Q lawnmower which has cut mark damage to the engine cover.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity or knows of anyone selling a B&Q lawnmower in suspicious circumstances is asked to contact Police at Strand Road on 0845 600 8000.

Once again Police would like to remind homeowners to follow basic crime prevention advice and lock up garden equipment as thieves are waiting for the smallest opportunity to steal items from your garden, sheds, homes and cars.

Foyle Area Commander, Chief Inspector Garry Eaton is urging local residents to be more vigilant at this time of year. He says, “Do not entice thieves on to your property. Prevent crime from happening by taking simple steps, close your windows at night or if you are out of your home.

Always lock doors to your home and vehicles. Lock garages and sheds and do not leave garden or sports equipment lying around. Lock it up!

“Do not make your home an easy target for criminals. I would also ask anyone who notices suspicious activity in their neighbourhood to call us immediately. This could prevent someone from becoming a victim of crime. Please Protect your homes.
