Rural people asked to attend safety meetings

DUP Alderman Gary Middleton is encouraging people in Londonderry’s rural hinterland to come along to a series of meetings to discuss issues of policing and community safety in the coming weeks.

Meetings are set to take place in Newbuildings, Eglinton and Claudy and Park in the next few weeks.

Mr Middleton said the Rural Community Safety Forums are an opportunity for local people to make their views known to members of the PSNI and the local police watchdog the District Policing Partnership (DPP).

“People within the community, Church members, members of the Loyal Orders, anyone who wants to have a say are invited to come along,” said Mr Middleton. “It’s a key link between people in the rural area and the PSNI and the DPP.”

The first in a series of forthcoming meetings will take place in the Park Resource Centre on May 15.
