PSNI have no record of CoC security threat report

THE PSNI does not hold a report “detailing a funding shortfall in the PSNI’s budget in terms of increasing security around the celebrations due to a perceived increased security threat.”

The force denied it held such a report in response to a Freedom of Information request.

An inquirer contacted the PSNI claiming: “A report was written which detailed a funding shortfall in the PSNI’s budget in terms of increasing security around the celebrations due to a perceived increased security threat.”

A list of all meetings between PSNI representatives and City of Culture representatives/relevant stakeholders concerning the City of Culture celebrations was also requested.

The PSNI has formed a Londonderry UK City of Culture planning team comprising a Chief Inspector, an Inspector and two Constables to work closely with the Culture Company and build relationships with Ilex and Derry City Council.

But whilst the PSNI acknowledges its City of Culture Planning Team has met with a wide range of partners since its inception it said it did not keep minutes of meetings.

In a statement it declared: “The PSNI do not hold any minutes of these meetings. Derry City Council compile minutes usually at formal meetings such as the City of Culture Infrastructure Group, the Transport Sub Group and the Safety Advisory Group.

“I can also advise you that the PSNI do not hold a report detailing a funding shortfall in the PSNI’s budget in terms of increasing security around the celebrations due to a perceived increased security threat.”
