People paid nothing towards Belleek pottery gift

THE people of Northern Ireland contributed nothing rom the public purse in order to buy Elizabeth II of Great Britain and Northern Ireland a piece of Belleek pottery as a gift to mark her visit to this part of her Kingdom last week.

The gift cost the people nothing, according to the First Minister Peter Robinson and the Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) MLA Jim Allister asked the Ministers what plans they had to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee by way of a gift on behalf of her subjects in this part of the UK.

In a statement Mr Robinson and Mr McGuinness stated: “At its meeting on May 31 the Executive agreed to present a gift, at no cost to the public purse, to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.”
