Official warns farms

A FARM Ministry official has told local farmers to expect a stricter payments and penalties system under a new regime to be rolled out as part of changes to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2013.

Mr John Moore, based at the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) in Omagh, said local farmers would need to pay close attention to detail when answering queries from officials.

He made the comments at a special workshop in Ballymagorry where experts were on hand to give local farmers some advice on how to scythe through red tape.

Support is available through RAPID at Killaloo on 028 7133 7149, Dennett Interchange on 028 7139 7990, The Villages Together in Bready on 028 7184 1735 or through the YMCA in Drumahoe on 028 7130 1662. With a booking system in place.
