Just 4 foul dog owners fined

JUST four fixed penalty notices were imposed on inconsiderate dog owners in Londonderry who let their pets foul the city pavements between 2009 and 2012, the Environment Minister Alex Attwood has revealed.

Incredibly, no fines were imposed here in 2009/10; just one fine was imposed in 2010/11; and just three were imposed in 2011/12.

Mr Attwood said the figures were based on information requested by the Department of the Environment (DoE) after the end of each financial year.

The information refers to the number of fixed penalty notices issued to people who permitted their dogs to foul the streets.
