Investors concerned about protests: Foster

POTENTIAL and existing investors have raised concerns about the protests against Belfast City Council’s decision to limit the flying of the Union Flag over City Hall, Investment Minister Arlene Foster has revealed.

She said Invest NI was working with the companies involved to reassure them Northern Ireland is a safe place.

The Minister was asked by SDLP MLA Conal McDevitt for her assessment of the “impact of flag protests, disruptions, blockages and violence on investor confidence.”

She replied: “A very small number of those existing and potential investors have raised concerns about the current situation following some of the recent media coverage. Invest NI is working closely with these companies to reassure them that Northern Ireland remains a safe and competitive place to do business and to minimise the impact of any negative perceptions.

“No planned visits by potential investors have been cancelled and all recent scheduled visits have taken place without disruption.”
