Installation celebration at City Grand Lodge

SATURDAY saw the annual installation of officers for the City of Londonderry Grand Orange Lodge, in their headquarters the Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall.

The City Grand Master, Victor Wray said: "The installation of officers had an added importance this year with the members celebrating the 175th anniversary of the formation of the local City Grand Lodge.

"This a very important year for the Orange locally, we are planning many events to celebrate our anniversary including a gala banquet and hosting the Twelfth of July celebrations in Londonderry on the 13th of July," he said.

The City Grand Lodge were pleased to have the Secretary of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, Right Worshipful Brother Drew Nelson, along with visitor from Counties Down, Londonderry and Tyrone.

The installation was carried out by Right Worshipful Brother Drew Nelson, assisted by the City Grand Master of the City of Londonderry Grand Royal Arch Purple Chapter Worshipful Brother Stewart Montgomery.

Right Worshipful Brother Victor Wray was installed as City Grand Master and Worshipful Brother James Hetherington as his deputy; this is the third year these brethren have held their respective offices.

All the other officers of the City Grand Lodge were re-installed apart from the Assistant Deputy Grand Secretary, where Brother Wray welcomed Worshipful Brother Stephen Burns to the officer team.
