Electing DCC cost £130k

ELECTING Derry City Council last year cost £130,747.75, the Sentinel can reveal.

Staff costs set the public back £63,424; administration cost £29,425; and postage cost £37,897.

The figures refer to the cost of the Local Government election which was held on May 5, 2011.

It does not take any account of the additional security measures put in place at the Londonderry count centre at Lisneal last year.

Additional security measures had been put in place in light of a terrorist incident at Templemore Leisure Centre during the Westminster election count in 2010.
