Bingo hall and revamp for Duke Street

A NUMBER of businesses in one of the main thoroughfares in Londonderry’s Waterside are set to get a revamp with one local pub planning to open a bingo hall upstairs.

Three firms operating in Duke Street have applied for permission to improve signage at their shop fronts.

Sam Conley motorcycles, Montgomery and McCleery estate agents and Warwick Wallpapers all applied for permission to make the changes.

But Dukes bar at the corner of Duke Street and Spencer Road wants to change the first and second floors of the pub into a bingo hall.

Planners have been notified of the firms’ intentions.

The moves follow a successful state-supported high Street renovation pilot - modelled on a successful initiative pioneered in Washington DC - that was recently applied at Spencer road.
