Bail checks continue

Police in Foyle have carried out over one hundred bail checks in the last month and arrested 16 people for breach their bail conditions.

Police conducted over 100 curfew checks during October and have visited numerous homes looking for persons who have outstanding arrest warrants. Thirty-five persons were arrested for outstanding warrants and sixteen for breaching their bail conditions.

Chief Inspector Jon Burrows said: “We will continue to use curfews and other bail conditions when appropriate to monitor and control those suspected of burglary and other crimes, there is a simple message to those subjected to curfews - expect us to knock your door and if you are not in expect to be arrested. Those who decide not to attend court will also be pursued and we are determined to apprehend criminals and make Foyle a safer place for everyone.”
