Police in Londonderry are appealing for information following criminal damage to a wheelie bin in the Glenabbey road area Friday, November 9.

Sometime between 11am and 6pm the bin was set on fire and completely destroyed. This is the second time that a bin in the area has been set alight and residents are concerned as there are gas pipes nearby.

Police would also point out that fire is completely unpredictable; it can combust quicker than you think and even a light breeze can cause sparks to fly and possibly ignite other nearby items. When a fire takes hold it can move quickly and what someone may see as a prank could end up with serious consequences.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information is asked to contact police at Strand road.
