UUP Leader admits he failed in primary school

In a candid address as the guest of honour at the Lenten Lectures in St Columb’s Cathedral on Thursday, the UUP Leader called himself ‘a dunce’ during his primary school years.

He admitted that it was not until an inspirational teacher challenged him to be all that he could in the classroom that his academic life was transformed and he left school with “reasonable qualifications”.
