Police arrested and charged a 17 year old man with four offences in connection with recent theft from vehicle incidents in Portstewart.

The man was arrested on Wednesday 25 June and charged with disorderly behaviour, criminal damage, theft and handling stolen goods.

He is due to appear at court in Coleraine today (Friday 27 June). As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

Police believe that many of the thefts involved cars that had been left unlocked. Therefore, people are reminded of the importance of locking cars at all times and keeping valuables out of sight or taking them out of the car between trips. If you want more information on crime prevention measures, please contact your local Crime Prevention Officer on the new non-emergency number 101.
