THE LONDONDERRY Sentinel's archive - dating back to the 1840's - is to be used to help people trace their family history as part of a new course at the city's Central Library.
Beginning on April 18, the free four week course, will highlight the resources available to anyone interested in tracing their family history.
As well as using the Sentinel archive, stored on microfilm at the library, other resources include the Derry Journal, street almanacs, census statistics and a varied collection of local books.
Organised by the WELB, the course will also give participants the opportunity to access virtual resources on the internet. Those with little or no computer experience will receive expert guidance. Among the online resources used will be the Ulster American folk Park database which includes details of many of the emigrant who left from Derry Quay.
Each of the two hour sessions, running from April 18, will start at 10am.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact the Central Library on 71272310
