Detectives in Londonderry have issued an advisory notice to local people to be wary if offered a chance to buy antique jewellery from an unknown source.

The warning follows a burglary in the Clooney Park West area of the City on Tuesday, March 25.

It is believed the burglary took place between the hours of 8am and 7pm, when a house was entered and antique rings valued at about £2,000 were stolen. The perpetrators also made off with a number of electrical goods, including an iPad, iPhone and Laptop.

Meanwhile, jewellery was stolen form a house at Northland Road on Thursday, March 27, between 12.30pm and 3.15pm. Entry was forced via the rear door of the house.

Anyone who can assist enquiries into either incident is asked to contact police at Strand Road on the non-emergency 101 number, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
