Police at Strand Road in Londonderry are appealing for information about an indecent assault on a woman in the city centre.

The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of Monday, June 30, a PSNI spokesman said.

“A woman in her 20s was approached at William Street by a man who started to talk to her. As she moved away, the man grabbed her around the upper part of her body and also indecently assaulted her,” he said, adding that the woman broke free and then left the area in a friend’s car.

The woman’s attacker is described as being in his mid 20s, with dark hair and was of a thin build.

Anyone who saw the incident or who has information that may be of use in the enquiry is asked to contact the police either using the non-emergency number 101, or, alternatively, information can be provided to police through the Freephone Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
