The new Derry City and Strabane District Council has invited tenders for a branding specialist to help give the authority a name and image.

Those interested in providing a “branding strategy and identity for the new Derry City and Strabane District Council” have until August 22 to apply.

Whilst a new brand is required the tender documents stipulate that several marketing campaigns incorporating the name ‘Derry’ and the name ‘Strabane’ must be aligned in the strategy.

“A recognition needs to be given to existing brands and identities including the existing corporate councils, existing city brand for Derry City and the In Strabane brand that exists,” the document states.

“In addition alignment of the new Brand alongside campaigns such as Visit Derry, Music City, and Invest Derry,” the document adds.

The document declares extensive work has already been carried out including a workshop held in April 2014 with members from both predecessor Councils.

“In addition Derry-Londonderry has worked up a city brand over the last number of years and Strabane has developed a campaign called In Strabane - both these identities come with Brand Guidelines and extensive development research which needs to be recognised in this development process,” it says.
