Lung cancer deaths at ten year high

Lung cancer - by far the biggest smoking-related cancer killer - accounted for 557 deaths in Londonderry over the past decade.

The number of annual lung cancer deaths rose from 64 to a ten year high of 74 between 2011 and 2012. During the ten years from 2003 to 2012 there were 13 deaths from throat cancer and eight deaths from mouth cancer.
