Former City of Derry captain sadly passed

Former City of Derry captain Eddie Huey sadly passed away on Friday (December 27).

A service of thanksgiving will take place in Waterside Presbyterian Church at 2pm this afternoon (January 1).

Mr Huey, late of Ture, is survived by his wife Jill, his children Kathryn, Claire and Christopher, and his siblings Stan and Hilary.

Eddie captained the City of Derry senior side at No. 8 in the mid 1970s.

He played loose forward for Foyle and Londonderry College as a schoolboy and later at Old Wesley, whilst studying in Dublin, before returning to play for Derry.
