Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced a £335,000 major resurfacing scheme on a section of the B49 Longland Road, Donemana, the main Donemana to Claudy road.

Improvements to a 2,790 metre section of the B49 Longland Road, began on March 21 from Longland Road, Bonds Glen Road junction through Liscloon to the Crumlin Bridge on the Longland Road.

The scheme will strengthen and improve the quality of the carriageway on the B49, which serves the area surrounding Donemana and is also a main link to the A5 and A.

Due to the restricted carriageway width available on the B49 and to help minimise any potential conflict between the site works and through traffic, a section of the road will be closed until Sunday, April 13, with traffic diverted along the B48 Lisnaragh Road and the C603 Ballynacross Road. Local access will be retained.

As with all improvements of this type the progress of the works is subject to favourable weather conditions. Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.

Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public. However road users should be aware that some delays may be expected.
