Growing concern for Tullyally
As a result of growing concerns in the Tullyally area regarding the future of Community representation, Ulster Unionist Councillor Mary Hamilton and local UUP Vice Chairman, Ronnie McKeegan, along with concerned residents, are seeking prompt action to address the situation.
In a statement this week the pair said: “We have been successful in addressing the problem of repeated occurrences of a main sewage drain leaking on to a football pitch used by a local team but there are additional problems arising from the vacuum that has arisen following the closure of the Community centre and the collapse of community representation.
“As a result of our regular contacts with the young people and through our efforts with the football team a youth-based Initiative is being launched to resurrect effective community representation for the Tullyally area,” Mr McKeegan said.
“We have been disappointed by the sometimes slow and limited nature of assistance available from statutory Bodies charged with promoting community representation In contrast, we can only praise the enthusiasm and interest of the young people whose concerns are grounded in seeing the area’s problems solved and informed by the needs and ideas of people who live there,” Mrs Hamilton said, adding: “There are important lessons to be learned from the past and we are committed to continuing our efforts, with others, towards improving provision for the Tullyally residents.
