Get involved in biggest St Pat’s parade in years

LONDONDERRY carnival officer Sharon Meenan is calling community groups, schools and artists to get involved in the 2013 St Patrick’s Day parade, which she hopes will be the biggest and best in years.

“We are encouraging as many people as possible to come on board and take part in the St Patrick’s Day parade,” she said.

“Over the past number of years there has been great input by groups not just from throughout the entire council area but from across the North West.

“Participants have put in an awful lot of time and energy and have pulled out all the stops in terms of creativity, colour and vibrancy to create pageants and parades that are a joy to watch.

“We hope that this year will be even bigger and better and we are keen to facilitate as many groups as possible to take part,” she concluded.

North West Carnival Initiative and Derry City Council offer a range of support to interested groups.

The central objective in all activity is to promote shared celebration by encouraging participation in quality, carnival based activity that is inclusive to all communities within the North West area.

If you would like to participate or require further information please contact Sharon Meenan on Tel: 028 71 365151 or e-mail: sharon.meenan@derrycity.gov.uk
