The funeral has taken place of the young footballer who died suddenly during an indoor soccer game at Campsie on Thursday night.
Kevin King was laid to rest on Tuesday after requiem mass at a packed St Mary’s Church in his native Tamnaherin.
Mourners heard that the 22-year-old was a talented player with Slaughtmanus GAA.
Club members were stationed along the route as the funeral cortege made its way to the church, where boys and girls, in their green jerseys, formed a guard of honour at the entrance.
Fr Noel McDermott, in his homily, said that “God gifted Kevin with an amazing skill as a footballer” and “he was a source of great encouragement to the younger people in the club too”.
