The current DUP MLA for Foyle Gary Middleton has announced that he will be standing in the forthcoming Assembly election.

He made the announcement after being unanimously endorsed by the DUP to be its candidate in Foyle.

“It has been a great honour to represent Londonderry and the wider Foyle constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly since April 2015,” he said.

“I am delighted once again that my name will be on the ballot paper to represent my constituents as a member of the Democratic Unionist Party.

“As we approach the 2016 assembly election, it is vital that those who are eligible to vote are on the electoral register in order for their voice to heard. With only one seat in the Foyle constituency available for unionists, every vote will count.

“This election will be one of the most important in recent times and we must ensure that unionism has the strongest representation possible both here in Londonderry and across Northern Ireland.

“As the current mandate draws to an end, I will continue to work tirelessly within the Assembly on behalf of all of my constituents,” Mr Middleton said.
