Polish Erasmus students on the learning curve

They are all pupils from the Complex of Technical Schools, a schools system based in the town of Wodzisław Śląski, Poland, in the south of the country, close to the border with the Czech Republic.

Their’s is a modern, dynamic and constantly developing secondary school with a 50-year-old history and well-qualified staff, with a reputation as being one of the best technical schools in Poland due not least to its educational achievements in the fields of construction, information technology and electronics.

The school has won the all Poland construction competition consistently over the last several years, which illustrates the exemplary quality of the education.

The young Polish delegates are all aged in their late teenage years and are participants in the internationally recognised Erasmus Plus programme, which offers vocational education and training which is financed by the European Commission.

The project being undertaken by the Polish students in Londonderry is entitled ‘We create mobile web applications for the unemployed’.

The 17 pupils are in the city primarily to expand their knowledge base and skills, and they will also participating in the work placements with local businesses in the city and district.

They arrived in the Province on January 24 and will be working and living here until February 20.

They are accompanied by two tutors, who are teachers from the Complex of

Technical Schools in Wodzisław Śląski.

The North West Academy of English is hosting the Polish delegation.

The Academy is also responsible for organising English enterprise workshops, trips and a cultural programme, as well as work placements in both the public and private enterprises sector, accommodation and transport for the students.
