Feast of culture for book lovers

LONDONDERRY book lovers of all ages are being offered the opportunity to enjoy a varied and exciting calendar of events taking place in local libraries during UK City of Culture 2013.

A busy programme of events will be held in the Londonderry Central, Creggan, Shantallow, Strathfoyle and Waterside libraries.

The Libraries NI programme features something for everyone - literature, music, drama, heritage, talks, exhibitions, children’s events and much more.

Irene Knox, Chief Executive, Libraries NI says: “We hope you will have a look through the brochure which has been posted out to all library members in the city and is also available in libraries across the North-West, as well as a host of other venues, such as theatres and restaurants.

“If you haven’t got a copy, call in and pick one up and make it a date in your diary! We would like to thank everyone participating in the Libraries NI City of Culture programme and wish Derry City every success in the forthcoming year”

Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure, Carál Ní Chuilín MLA, said: “City of Culture 2013 has got off to a tremendous start. There are events for all tastes and all ages.

“With library services at the heart of the community, it is fitting that they too are playing their part in this important year for Derry. Make a date with City of Culture and this exciting programme, as you won’t want to miss any aspect of this LegenDerry year.”
