DRUMAHOE hairdresser Naomi Cooke has rallied family and friends to take part in a sponsored walk in support of vulnerable children.

Naomi has planned a route that will take walkers across the Peace Bridge through Ebrington Square and along the Limavady Road.

The walk will proceed up the Crescent Link finally ending in Naomi’s home area of Drumahoe.

All proceeds will support services for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) in Foyle.

She said: “I choose this route as it is a tough enough challenge for us all and it will see us finish up in our home village of Drumahoe.”

Although Naomi has previously taken part in numerous charity events, this is the first event that she has organised herself.

She said: “I chose to support the NSPCC in Foyle because I think it’s a great organisation and I wanted to raise a few extra pounds for the services they have for children and families.

“I recently had a child of my own and know how fortunate he is in comparison to some children out there.”

Naomi and around 45 of her friends and family will take to the streets for the six and a half mile walk on Sunday, November 25.

Anyone interested in supporting them can make a donation directly to NSPCC Foyle on 07791 334 259. Or sign up to take part in the walk by contacting Deirdre on 07791 334 259 or at deidre.mclaughlin@nspcc.org.uk.

Naomi continued: “I’d like to encourage local people to support us in any way they can, no matter how small, as every little bit they can give will go to help the NSPCC’s services for local children who need all the help they can get.”
