Culture Company statement

A spokesperson for Culture Company 2013 said: “Culture Company believes it is inappropriate to comment on a confidential working document that was never intended for the public domain.

“We are currently in the third month of delivering one of the largest programmes of cultural celebration ever witnessed on these islands to mark Derry-Londonderry’s year as UK City of Culture.

“Events such as Sons and Daughters, Other Voices and Hofesh Shechter have received widespread acclaim both locally and in the national media. These events have heightened the sense of anticipation ahead of the even more spectacular flagship events that have yet to come such as; Radio One’s Big Weekend, The Return of Colmcille, Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann, The Walled City Tattoo and The Turner Prize.

“It is the role of any Chief Executive to raise potential issues to their board and plan a strategic response to ensure that any risks are mitigated. The Culture Company team continue with the work of delivering this extraordinary year of celebration.”
