PSNI appeal over possible arson

Detectives in Londonderry are appealing for information following the report of an alleged arson attack in the Corrody Road area of the city in early hours of this morning, Friday, January 8.

Speaking about the incident, Detective Sergeant Brian Reid said: “It is reported that at approximately 1.55am, a fire was started in the hallway of a ground floor flat by persons unknown. A number of persons inside the property fled the scene. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire.

“One male was taken by ambulance to hospital; his injuries are not thought to be life threatening at this time.

“The investigation into the nature of the fire is at an early stage and Detectives would like to hear from anyone who noticed any unusual activity in the area.
