A man from Londonderry who pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and other public order offences, was given a nine-month jail sentence, suspended for three years by District Judge Barney McElholm.

In the dock was Adam James McMonagle (21), of Carranbane Walk in the Cityside.

An injured party in the case has impaired vision in one of his eyes due to the incident in August last year.

The court heard that the defendant was taking steps to address the issues he had with alcohol.
