2 arrested after knife robbery

TWO people have been arrested by the PSNI in connection with the knife-point robbery of a woman on the Londonderry Peace Bridge on Tuesday (February 5).

Police arrested a 19 year-old female and a 25 year-old male in connection with the armed robbery.

The PSNI had earlier reported that at approximately 8.25pm a female was walking along the Peace Bridge towards the Waterside when she was robbed at knife point.

A male approached her from behind and made off with her handbag. The male then ran towards Foyle Street where it is believed he got into a taxi and was dropped off in Great James Street. He is believed to have been wearing a blue tracksuit top.

The female did not sustain any injuries, however she was left very badly shaken.

Police asked anyone who saw any male acting suspiciously in the area or anyone who has any information about the incident to contact Detectives in Strand Road on 0845 600 8000.
