Local cafés have joined forces with Foyle Women’s Aid to help victims of domestic violence.
A series of coffee mornings are taking place during International Women’s Week March 4th – March 8th to raise money to fund programmes for women and children.
Part of the proceeds from tea/ coffees and scones/cupcakes sold during certain times of the day will be donated to Foyle Women’s Aid.
“Money raised during the week will go directly to programmes to help women and children whose lives have been shattered by domestic abuse,” explained Foyle Women’s Aid director, Marie Brown.
“All we are asking is for people to turn up and enjoy a cup of coffee and a scone or cake and help others at the same time.”
Five local cafés have drawn up special offers during the week – with a portion of the takings going to the domestic violence charity.
“We are very grateful to all these businesses for getting involved and I would ask people to take up their offers, even on the way to work or on a break. Why not organise a group of friends to meet up for a coffee and a chat on one of these days,” said Marie Brown.
