There was also the chance to win the contents of a window filled with prizes from Carrickfergus-based retailers, businesses and salons.

Chairman of the Carrickfergus Town Centre Partnership (CTCP), Noel Williams, explained: “With the success of the ‘Win the Halloween Window’ in our wake, it made real sense to do it all again, but this time for Christmas, So lots of the town’s traders decided to try and out-do Santa by filling a window with gifts that could be won by simply shopping in the town, getting a free entry into the draw, and hoping that lady luck would come up trumps.

“The event was also sponsored by MEA with the aim of boosting footfall in the town and support for local businesses. It was considered a fantastic incentive for people to ‘shop local’ this Christmas.

“Prizes were supplied by members of the CTCP, a group made up of 118 businesses based within Carrickfergus Town Centre, and included gift vouchers to spend in the town, beauty products, homewares, electrical equipment, pictures, clothing and much more, making a prize pot of around 50 items which one lucky shopper could win.

“All of the prizes were displayed in our very own festive Win the Window directly in front of the town’s Christmas tree in Market Place; allowing shoppers to see what was up for grabs when they supported our local small businesses.

“The response to this prize draw was incredible with hundreds of entry forms collected through our participating retailers.”
