Students to take part in trade fair

LONDONDERRY students will gather in the Foyleside Shopping Centre on Thursday (February 14) to sell products they have developed themselves through a Young Enterprise Northern Ireland (YENI) business promotion and awareness initiative.

They will be taking part in a trade fair that will decide the best young company to represent Northern Ireland in the Young Enterprise UK Company of the Year finals in London. The fair takes place from 9am to 2pm.

“Young Enterprise is thrilled that so many students are participating in this year’s Trade Fairs,” says Jeff Gallagher, Development Manager at Young Enterprise Northern Ireland.

“It gives them a chance to build their confidence and learn skills such as marketing and sales which will be invaluable to them in the world of work.

“Today more than ever, there is a need for our future workforce to ‘make jobs’ rather than ‘take jobs’. Entrepreneurship education is a vital contribution to this region’s economic output.

“In today’s economic climate, the employment market is even more competitive, and the skills that these young people learn now will help them safeguard their future careers, hopefully as tomorrow’s business leaders.

“We would encourage shoppers to come along and show their support for our young local entrepreneurs. ”
