New study needed on feasibility of social hub

A NUMBER of models have been considered for a social enterprise hub Ilex considers part of a possible £465m investment to bring 12,500 jobs to the city by 2020 but it’s back to the drawing board, according to the First and Deputy First Ministers.

A group of experts formed to consider the establishment of a ‘Co-operative and Social Enterprise Hub’ has agreed a more detailed feasibility study is needed.

In a joint statement they revealed: “The establishment of a Co-operative and Social Enterprise Hub is one of the catalyst programmes in the One Plan.

“A partnership has been formed with a range of knowledge and experience in this area and is co-ordinating the delivery of this catalyst programme.

“To date, the group has considered a number of models for the programme and has now agreed that a more detailed feasibility study is required. “This is being considered by the Derry-Londonderry Steering Group as part of the Social Investment Fund process.”
