£4.12m doled out to firms

TWO thirds of the £4.12m forked out by Invest NI to companies in the Londonderry area last year went to indigenous companies, it’s been revealed.

Investment Minister Arlene Foster provided a breakdown of Invest NI assistance offered to local and multinational firms.

It transpires £1.45m was offered to externally-owned firms and £2.67m was offered to locally-owned firms.

Sixty-five per cent of a total dole out of £4.12m was provided to local firms.

She also revealed that Invest NI facilitated 30 visits to Londonderry by potential inward investors over the past three years.

But the amount if visits has dropped from 13 in 2009/10 to 10 in 2010/11 to seven in 2011/12.
