Brazen thieves stole several heavy gas canisters from the rear of a take-away in the Waterside in broad daylight last Wednesday and police want to know if anyone saw them.

Constable Tracy Flynn, the investigating officer, said the large red gas canisters were stolen from a take-away on the Trench Road.

“The rear of the shop is to the side of the complex and is overlooked by the car park. This is a very busy shopping outlet and the gas canisters were stolen at 7.30pm on Wednesday July 16. The gas canisters are very heavy and would not have fitted into a car.

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw activity close to the canisters or saw them being loaded in a van or perhaps onto a trailer.”

Information can be given on the police non-emergency number, 101, or by calling the Crimestoppers Charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
