Barry Douglas to return to Christ Church

PIANIST and conductor Barry Douglas will return to Christ Church with Camerata Ireland for a performance of Mozart, Strauss and Puccini this Friday, March 8.

The musician has also been working with local students through a series of workshops at local schools. But on Friday it’s back to the day job.

He said: “I am thrilled to be back in Derry~Londonderry especially at this time when the whole place is celebrating its City of Culture status.

“We have been made to feel so welcome by St Cecilia’s College and all the schools we have worked with here and have considered it a privilege to have spent time with all the young people who have participated in workshops and events.

“The concert at Christ Church is the icing on the cake. It marks the conclusion of this stage of our journey with the community here and we hope that people will come and join us for a very special evening.”

In July the orchestra will be joining with the London Symphony Orchestra for a performance of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s new work ‘At Sixes and Sevens’ which promises to be one of the cultural highlights of the year.

Friday’s concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15, £10 (concession) £5 (student). To book tickets please ring box office on 02871 264455 or St Cecilia’s College on 02871 281 800.
