Ban for ‘all you can drink promotions’

Minister for Social Development, Nelson McCausland, has decided to ban ‘All you can drink’ for fixed price promotions.

The decision follows a public consultation which shows strong support for the move. The ban is expected to come into force in January and will outlaw promotions such as ‘All you can drink for £20’.

Responses to the consultation on proposed regulations to ban certain types of irresponsible drinks promotions has been published on the Department for Social Development’s website.

Members of Stormont’s Social Development Committee raised some concerns about the proposed ban on bulk purchases and Mr McCausland has decided not to proceed with regulation at this time.
