Over a quarter-of-a-million pounds was raised in charges levied at the Altnagelvin Hospital car park in 2014/15.
The Health Minister Simon Hamilton said £253,672 was raised at the Londonderry facility, more than anywhere with the exception of the Ulster Hospital (£1,316,590), Belfast City (£781,000) and Craigavon (£473,975).
The Minister stated: “Information on the income generated includes charges to both patients and staff.”
“Car parking charges are set so as to cover the costs of providing and maintaining car parks and associated security with any surplus re-invested into patient care.”
The Health Minister revealed the details in response to an Assembly Question tabled by the Sinn Féin MLA for North Antrim Daithí McKay
