A busy festive season in maternity unit

It was a busy new year for staff on duty on New Year’s Day at Altnagelvin Hospital’s maternity unit.

The first infant to arrive was a baby girl born to the McCann family at 2.45am weighing 5lb 15oz. They are from the Waterside.

Next was a baby boy born at 5.19am weighing just under 7lb 10oz to the Murphy family from Artigarven, Strabane.

A baby boy was born at 11.12am weighing a little over 7lb 3oz to Catherine Mailey, from Limavady.

Then there were three baby girls born in succession: At 12.42pm Bernadette Doherty, from Londonderry delivered a daughter weighing 5lb 11oz; at 1.37pm Vicky Dalzell from Newbuildings had a daughter weighing 6lb 12 oz and at 3.02pm Linda Lynch from Eglinton had a daughter weighing just over 8lbs.

The last New Year’s Day baby was a baby boy born to Leanne Deeney from Dungiven at 5pm, weighing 7lb 8.5oz.

There were three babies born at Altnagelvin Hospital on Christmas Day.

All the babies born were boys and were born to parents from Feeny, Eglinton and Artigarven.

There were five babies born at Altnagelvin Hospital on Boxing Day; three girls and two boys.

The babies were born to parents from Ballygawley, Londonderry, Newbuildings, Buncrana and Strabane.
