Teen charged in connection with Derry murder

A WATERSIDE mother-of-one has appeared at Londonderry magistrates Court charged in connection to the murder of pizza delivery man Emmet Shiels.
A WATERSIDE mother-of-one has appeared at Londonderry magistrates Court charged in connection to the murder of pizza delivery man Emmet Shiels.
Nadine Kelly, of Celadine Court in Derry's Waterside, is charged attempting to pervert the course of just
ice in that she sought to frustrate the police investigation into the murder by providing an alibi for an 18 years old man.
Ms Kelly, who has a two year old daughter, denies the offence.
A PSNI detective sergeant told the court of the heightened tensions in the Bogside and Creggan areas of the city since last Tuesday's killing.
He said a number of homes of others arrested in connection with the murder had been attacked.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said his client had no involvement in the murder. He said her involvement in the alleged alibi offence stemmed from a romantic attachment.
District Judge Barney McElholm released the defendant on her own bail of £500 to appear before the same court on July 31.
He ordered Kelly not to have any contact with five males named in court and not to enter the Bogside and Creggan areas.
He also ordered her to report to Waterside PSNI Station once a week
Mr Shiels, from the Bogside, was shot in the early hours of June 24.
