Prestigious Golden Award for Waterside RBL leader

CHAIRMAN of the Women's Section of the Waterside Branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) has been awarded the organisations highest award.
Mrs Irene Hunter, who joined the women's section in 1983, has held the offices of secretary, vice-chairman has been chairman since 1994.
The National Golden Award is the most prestigious award that can be made to a member of the women's section and is given to members who have rendered outstanding and meritorious service to the RBL.
Mrs Hunter has also carried out welfare work for the Legion in the past 15 years as well as organising fundraising events throughout the year on behalf of the women's section.
Earlier this year Irene was presented with a Woman of the Year Award by Derry City Council for her work with the elderly through the Royal British Legion.
Mrs Hunter's award was presented to her by Northern Ireland District Chairman, Mrs Brenda Kirkland B.E.M, at the waterside Women's Section Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, October 28.
